Sabine,
To the right of the waterfall there is a stepped ledge area, slightly sloping but not too bad. I've tented there a couple of times, most we pitched was 3 tents, but you can definitely put up more. Not sur ehow comfortable they would be, but in my estimation you have a usable area roughly 6 - 8m wide and 20 - 30m long. A bit rocky, but on the edge of the ledge the terrain was relatively flat and level. I'd probably describe it as a typical lower berg campsite.

Hey Sabine, we pitched 4 tents for 5 guys.
We literally camped right next to the footpath.
It wasn’t the flattest, so we all ended up at the bottom of our tent somewhere through the night.
I’ve read that there is a camp around there somewhere, we were just too exhausted to go look for it.

Sabine,
Close enough
I think we were a bit closer to the waterfall than where you camped. When I looked at your pic I was actually reminded of another area where you could possibly camp. A 100m or so to the north from the waterfall at the path, is a flatttish area, on the right of that small ridge you start up on as you leave the campsite (when ascending Fangs). This used to be a daggafield so should be fairly level and flat.
How did you find Mbundini? I've only been down it once and didn't enjoy it. We came down the side closest to Fangs pass, and the entire section was basically soft sand. My hikig stick would sink into the soil easily 40cm or more, so there was very little stability on the descent. Sprained my left ankle due to it continiously rolling out, had to climb up to the top of the ridge and then walk down without the side camber. Steeper, but much better than traversing a soft side slope for miles and miles!

Yellow arrow is where the footpath crosses at the waterfall.
Blue arrows is the flattish ledge area where we camped.
