Route from SA border post to top of Masusuba pass

We are planning to hike from the top of Masubasuba Pass to Bushman's neck to finally complete the last part of the Grand Traverse. We are trying to find the shortest way to get to the top of Masubasuba pass from the South African side. Walking from Sani lodge or Cobham is too far. When I look at satellite photos of the area it looks like there is a footpath from close to the South African border post to The Hub peak. Does anybody know if this is a real path or an optical illusion on the photos?

Somebody suggested that we should walk up Sani pass. We are a little worried about dodging cars. Another option suggested to us is to get transport to the top of Sani pass, but we would prefer to leave this as our last resort.

I don't know of a path there, but its very likely there will be sections of path. The route definitely seems doable.
Dodging cars on Sani is not an issue, they are all going slowly and there really aren't that many depending on when you head up.
I wouldn't be tempted to use the path between the Sani and the Hub, that would add quite a bit of distance
