I saw a video featuring a via ferrata on what seems to be Beacon Buttress. Does anyone have general information about this? Starting point, access, permission, apporval obtained upfront etc?
Could be controversial in certain circles, but I think it adds to the area in a positive way if correct channels were followed and if well controlled and maintained.

I was told that you book through Witsieshoek Lodge who apparently manages it - not sure if you have to use a guide from them or not.

You don't have to do it through the lodge. I was a little sceptical, but it's quite fun.I was told that you book through Witsieshoek Lodge who apparently manages it - not sure if you have to use a guide from them or not.

For those thinking of doing it, just make sure you have the right gear. I know some people do via ferratas with normal slings instead of ones rated for via ferratas - so here's a video showing the difference in the event of a fall:
