Hi

Aside from the Sentinel, are there any rock climbing routes in the berg suitable for beginners (keeping in mind that said beginners *ahem* won't lead) ?

2 classic scrambling routes are Catheral Peak and the north summit of Sterkhorn.

Other routes of a relatively easy technical grade are the standard routes up Inner Tower, as well as Inner and Outer Horn. There are also some short climbs up some of the Chessman and Turret and Amphlette.

Bear in mind (and I`m sorry if this is obvious already) that any climbing in the Berg is of a pretty serious nature. Rock conditions are typcially trecherous, the exposure quite freaky, and the grassy conditions (or at least grassy approaches of some of the climbs), make for some challenging situations. Get a lot of practice at some safer crags elsewhere, and get your grades up. Above all, have fun!

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.
