My response to requests for a strava upload of the Jonkerhoek Traverse route.
We did not turn on a gps so don't have a route-file. If I had one I'd probably give it to you but I think you'd experience more by not using it. Looking ahead to judge the terrain; spotting stone cairn markers, and/or studying a map to gain an understanding of your wider surroundings and where you fit in is just way nicer than focusing on a line or an arrow on a little screen. And it keeps the challenge more honest. For safety reasons a gps is good to have, but having a track is no excuse for taking risks that you otherwise wouldn't! I guess it could be interesting to analyse a route and your progress after the fact but when it comes to real mountain stuff that's not really what it's about for me..."
