Bushman's Nek to Mzimude

Hi guys
Does anyone know if the path to Mzimude, shown on Hiking Map no 6 as via G18 and G18a, exists?
The map makes it about 16km, is this correct?
Thanks in advance..

Fitness, Hobbit and I tried to find that trail as a means of walking out from the north gully of South Mzimude Pass a few years back. The trail exists in places, but not for the most part. If you can find a GPS track for the entire ridge, it will be helpful because it is not obvious. We ended up heading down a steep side gully to hit the Bushman's Cave trail about 3km before the car park - partly because it was much shorter, and partly because we were out of water and had been for a few hours.

The map distance is probably about right, but you may have missed one important factor about this route: that 2634m spot height on the map is the highest sandstone peak in SA (and it doesn't have a name or even a summit cairn). The saddle between it and the escarpment is about 2400m - so there is a lot of up and down on the ridge.

Kliktrack and I approached the saddle from a different angle last year - we past Slab Cave, and at the split in the rivers about 1km passed Slab Cave, we followed that gully up to the saddle. It is steep in places, but you can figure out navigation quite easily in good weather.

There is no trail on Mzimude Pass at all, by the way. It's a fun pass, towering cliffs and grass slopes.

Hi guys,

Anyone have a track from the Whyte's Cave/Mzimude/Bushman's junction, to Bushman's Cave? The lower berg path that goes in front of Andre's Knob, Saddle Nek, and Thaba Ngwange..

Thanks
