Injisuthi Camp to Ships Prow area

Hi guys

I am considering moving my hike to Injisuthi this weekend, in no small part because I am yet to do a pass at Injisuthi - literally the only region with High Berg passes in KZN where I am yet to do a pass...

Anyway - we are walking out via Cathkin Mountain Pass/Ships Prow North, and I know that if you turn right on the contour path, it is in a shocking state, so the plan is to head out via Shada Ridge.

Anyone have a track of the route from the Contour Path to Injisuthi Camp via Shada Ridge?

Anything I need to know about this route?

Thanks in advance!

Ghaz, ask Tony, I'm sure he will have a track of that section. Will have a look as I think he sent me one a while back, but my laptop got reconfigured and I lost a lot of my old tracks. From what I remember when I last did that section the contour path as you come up onto Shada Ridge from Ships Prow's side is fine from the bottom of Cowl Fork. When you turn right onto Shada ridge you pass a tarn on your right, and not too far after that the trail just dissapears. You might still see some poles that was left of the old Eland fence lying around. Just stay on the top of the ridge as you walk towards Injasuthi. Very nice views to your right :-). A syou apprach the end of the ridge there was a bit of a path again, and you follow this down towards Wonder valley cave. However, the path splits not too far from the ridge - left goes to Wonder valley cave, right down Van Heyenings pass towards Injasuthi camp.

We were planning on following this exact route on our June hike but unfortunately the one guy in our group wasn't fit enough to keep up and we had to change our route down from Ships pProw South to walk further down Ships and exit to the true right via the ridge. Pretty steep climb that one!

Send me your track of the van Heyenings pass section once done please.
