Injisuthi circular route via marble baths was created by John H
I am planning on starting my hike at around 12/1pm on Friday, heading up to Marble baths for the first night. Then heading back down via grindstone cave. I am fairly fit and have mapped the route via besecamp. It seems like the total distance is close to 20km but also involves a lot of elevation. Has anyone done this circular route? I need to be back at the main camp site by mid morning on /Sunday. is this worth doing? Are the trails well marked? if I have the GPX route will I be ok?

It's an easy loop, but the path between Marble Baths and Grindstone can get a bit vague. There will be several river crossings.
I'd try leave a bit earlier unless you hike at a good pace and are comfortable navigating in the Berg at dusk/night.
Bear in mind both caves are booked online (or through central reservations) and not at the camp.
The hike from Grindstone back to the camp is petty short so you should be fine.

Thanks Grae, are you saying try leave earlier on Friday to get to Marble baths? 7.8km in 4 hours not doable? I managed to get a GPX file from a previous thread so hoping this will see me through the vague section after marble baths. Not interested in sleeping in the cave, prefer my tent so will find that camp site close the the river. wish me luck

Certainly doable at a solid pace. Depending on water levels (which this year is quite a lot higher than 10 year average) you should add some time for river crossings. There is another cave about 1km downstream from marble batch on the south bank if you find Marble Baths cave occupied. This cave IMHO is better since it is close the water and more isolated.

It's totally doable in good conditions and especially if the river crossings are straight forward (i.e. the rivers aren't high). If you struggle at the first crossing (usually the worst) then you're probably in for a longer day, but if you're carrying a tent then it doesn't really matter. Enjoy.

There is a nice campspot on the other side (north) of the river right at Marble Baths, can take 4 or 5 tentsThanks Grae, are you saying try leave earlier on Friday to get to Marble baths? 7.8km in 4 hours not doable?
