Drive from Lotheni to Giants Castle December 2022

Hi,
we are lucky enough to go to Ezemvelo Lotheni and thereafter to Ezemvelo Giants Castle. We have a hatchback (no 4x4) and we’re wondering whether it would be okay or take Lower Lotheni road onto Mpofana to Giants Castle? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

The steeper sections on the Lower Lotheni road can get a bit muddy for a day or two after rain - I was glad to have AWD coming back from Lotheni in October. I think you'd probably be fine with 2WD (2nd gear, give it horns, don't stop...). At any rate there's usually enough traffic that someone passing may be able to help - not much cell service on that road. Take a shovel.

I don't know the Mpofana road.
