Walker's Pass - South Gully Route

Anyone ever had a go at the South Gully of Walkers Pass:


The gully seems rather obvious. But the approach is tricky as there is a massive waterfall in the small Berg (or so it appears from the top of Andre's Knob).



Myself and Kliktrak had a go at this pass a few weeks back, but abandoned the trip at 2400m in thick mist. We shot for the Ridge Route on Walkers Pass, but bailed at the lower scramble (around 2650m), most because we couldn't back out if the upper scramble was too difficult when wet. We found a nice route up from Slab Cave to the ridge south of the Hidden Valley. Conditions were generally wet and miserable.

Hi Ghaz. I haven't attempted the pass itself but have crossed above that waterfall when approaching Mzimude Pass from Bushman's Cave.

It was a long time ago, but I don't recall any technical difficulties. Just a steep slog straight up to the narrow ridge opposite Bushman's Cave, gaining even more height along this ridge and then contouring at about 2400-2500m into the Walker's Pass valley, above the waterfall.

Looking at the photos now, it seems that there is an even higher waterfall than the one we crossed above - not sure which you are referring to?
