A floral kingdom in Lotheni

A trip ST2 and I did to Yellowwood Cave this January.

So the cave got a refurbishment, there were lots of amazing flowers and I took the wrong path again when coming back to the camp site.  More on that when I show you the GE map below.

Yellow Wood Cave before during and after.  Not a bad cave, just a bit dusty.

This is an overhang about 100m down stream form Yellow Wood Cave, it would certainly work, but it looks like it has a resident porcupine, that's not him with the quills sticking out of his hat!

Just some info on route finding in this little section of Lotheni.  The main path in yellow goes past the waterfall.  If you are coming back from Yellow Wood Cave on the yellow route and don't want to go past the waterfall again, take the cyan junction, and then DONT take the red route.  Follow the cyan route until it drops down and hits the yellow route, don't take the high red route as you will end up about 100m above Syms Cottage.  Not a good place to be when your legs are tired, and all you want to do is tae your pack off and have a shower.

The next day after sorting out the cave, we were up early and climb the slope directly behind the cave and topped off on one fo the ridges leading to Ka-Mashilenga Pass.  We carried day packs and lunch and just did a circular route from above the cave to Ka-Mashilenga Pass and back down the ridge south of the Ka-Mashilenga River.  This is difficult way to get down and while there is a path along the top, it seems to disappear when you get to the edge.  We were forced to go down a very sketchy and steep gully on the southern side of the ridge to get back to the cave.
