Mnweni Cultural Center to Five Star Cave area

Hi there guys

So my solo plans for Cowl Cave took a bit of a turn when two of my friends (first timers...) asked me to take them on a trip. A classic Mnweni Rockeries loop always does the trick. This will be my third time in the area and both previous times I wasted quite a bit of time trying to find the right path up Mnweni. Does anybody have a track from the MCC that also includes 5 star cave as a stop over on the 1st night?

There are two caves just after the turnoff up the Fags valley. Seems to be some disagreement as to which of the two is 5 star cave, general consensus is that the one on the path is dagga smugglers cave and the one higher up (20m ASL?) is 5 star cave. I've only ever slept in the lower of the two, was ok-ish but the higher seems to offer a bit more protections from the rain. Both fairly short overhangs that won't offer much protection in driving rain.

Riaang, yes I have learned to always take a tent to Ledgers after getting soaked there one night, so we should be ok, in any event. I'll just make the newbies drag it up there haha

Hi guys,

We ran the Mnweni Pass in October ( and came back down vie the Rockeries) but didn't stop at any caves along the way. We found the path up the Pass pretty easily, but I am unsure of the location of the caves because we didn't need to stop. I could send the track across on email if anyone is interested.
