Advice from the runners... was created by kbresler
Hey peeps
I need some advise from the runners, and others on the forum please. I've been eyeing the following route for a jog. Any thoughts or input based on your experiences will be appreciated.
Start at Cathedral Peak Hotel.
Ascend standard route Mlambonja Pass to Twins Cave.
Descend via Bell Traverse to finish at Cathedral Peak Hotel.
Happy days,
Kobus

That's a great loop for a one-day mission..
If you actually want to do a meaningful amount of running/jogging/shuffling, the key is to go very light with what you are carrying. You don't want to be carrying more than 4kg which means you need to take some chances with gear left behind and back yourself to get out of a sticky situation. Even with a light enough pack, large parts of that route will be hiked anyway due to steep uphills and technical trails.
Whether you run or even hike the whole thing, you'll be amazed what the mindset of relentless forward progress will do. i.e. Minimise breaks and you'll eat up the distance in no time.
Enjoy

Hi
If I was were to run in the area I would do this trail
www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=8508446
It is a great loop and will allow for 90% running it will not have you out all day.
An easyier alternative is
www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=9465959

@Stijn - thanks for the input. Very good advise indeed. The whole thing looks pretty straightforward but I haven't done the whole thing so the input is hugely appreciated. Total distance looks like about 32km, give or take the odd metres from losing tracks.
I might have to drag along a cameraman, producer and photographer as well so it will likely be a tricky and much longer day. Sadly no time to stay out for a night.
