Peak Perspectives - Giant’s Castle: Jul -Sep 2016

This is my entry.

In early July a friend of mine had a birthday party with a Christmas in July theme. That explains the hat... I was lucky with this one - I just happened to be in the Drakensberg during the heavy snowfalls this July, and this was the first day the weather cleared enough for me to get up into the snow.

This is a reminder for the theme of the upcoming fourth quarter. It has special requirements:

This is a more open-ended theme, but photos must have been taken in 2016. The photo must also have been included in a previously posted 2016 trip report / write-up (including mini trip-reports). Participants thus practically have an entire year to plan ahead and get that perfect shot. By submitting numerous photos for trip reports throughout the year, participants can secure a large pool from which to make a final choice.

The shot must depict a characteristic that makes the Maloti-Drakensberg unique and special, or it must capture something that holds a deep, personal meaning. Looking at the photo must evoke a sense of pride, inspiration, peace or joy - the kind of thing that makes you breathe in deeply and slowly exhale slowly. Important to this theme is a proper description of the significance of the photo and what it means to you.

Retrospective posting of previous 2016 trips is allowed, though closer to the time we may need to determine a cut-off date for this.

We have managed to secure a prize for Q4, details to follow later.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

Here is my contribution, it is called "A Giant Climb".

It was taken on the approach to climb Scholes' Route on Giant's Castle.
The model is Macc. :)

I like the atmosphere of this misty approach on Giants ridge but only I would know where it was taken..
