There looks like a possible cold front coming next week Wednesday onwards with very low temps and low altitude snow. From our local KZN Midlands farmers weather warning!

Here is yesterday's Sentinel 2 satellite image showing Giants Castle to Bushmans Nek. Still a good covering on most south facing slopes on the escarpment:

North of Giants Castle received a lot less snow, the area directly above Corner Pass looks almost complete snow free, although inside the shady gully may be a different story:

May this be Prophetic words. I was so disappointed seeing hardly any snow for Northern Berg when the snow is DUMPED in the Cape. Need to to take the boys

As it stands various weather models are predicting a wide spread snow event to occur from late Thursday night through until Sunday. With some fairly low freezing levels possible, there may be some snow into the midlands as well.

Some models show the predicted snowfall to be very light, and others are indicating possibly 10cm or more. On the more optimistic side of things, here is the ECMWF 5 day potential accumulation map from windy.com:

After seeing Jon Wells post we took a spontaneous overnight trip to Monks Cowl with the hope of seeing some snow. And we were not disappointed. Just before we topped up at Breakfast Stream a few snowflakes started falling. There was still quite alot of snow on the ground and light snow fell all the way to Blindmans Corner. The sheer beauty of those mountain peaks covered in snow was quite special. (My first time experiencing snow)
