Drakensberg Time Lapse
Herewith a brief time-lapse video of our most recent hike in the Injisuthi Area of the Drakensberg Mountain Range. As always I wished for more time but as photography and mountaineering teaches you one can only live in the moment that has been given to you and you need to make the utmost best of it...
Injisuthi Time-lapse video
If only I succeed in making you long for our beloved mountain range I'll be a happy man

Rhinoandhedgehog wrote: Thanks Supertramp, What have you found to be the best time lapse (gap) for these sorts of scenes, We are up in the mountains this weekend and would love to give this a try.
Hi,
Well, it depends on the type of shot you have in mind:
- for clouds depending on how fast they are moving I use anything from 1 - 3 second intervals.
- for sunset shots I use 3 seconds
- the stars 15 - 60 seconds depending how long your exposure is.
I also recommend the following:
- Use Aperture mode (with only an auto change on the shutter speed)
- Manual focus
- Lock our ISO on manual depending on the light conditions and your noise tolerance.
Feel free to send me a PM if you have any other questions.
Cheers

The last time I was there I took a time lapse of the sunrise from the top of the Amphi with my iPhone (I had to reduce the quality a bit to reduce the video size).

Supertramp, maybe you should set-up your own "tutor hike" - charge a fee for your "teaching experience" and show us how to do this?

Thanks for the compliment LouisvV & GerritHuman
That is an awesome idea LouisvV. I would happily share my knowledge with like-minded fellow "Bergies". There is literally no end to what you can achieve and with just a little creativity the world is at your doorstep.
The coolest thing is, that for once, I will not be the only person slogging up my DSLR and tripod all the way to the escarpment

Second attempt.
One clearly needs a lot of time, patience and practice.
It good fun to see the results, will keep trying....
