Tall waterfalls in the Berg

I know Oranaco Basin in Venezuela has numerous 500+m waterfalls (including Angel Falls), I think Yosemite also has a few rather high ones around there. The biggest problem with classifying waterfalls is the question of how seasonal and how far apart can the falls be before it is 2 separate falls.
E.g. Yosemite Falls is made up of 2 waterfalls (400 odd m and 98m 5 km apart, with the remainder of the 729m being cascades in the 5km gap between the falls), we all know Tugela is 600m by biggest fall, and if taken in its actual entirety is well over 1km high.
Widest waterfalls also become fun to classify - Iguazu Falls is 4.1km wide for half the year, and retreats to 2 X 500m wide falls far apart for the other half of the year. Victoria Falls 2km long is also broken in places when not in flood, and Niagra is made up of 2 X 500m wide falls that aren't connected.
Any way - seeing as we are going for anything cool and worth seeing, I think the classification should be as follows:
- Full waterfalls, waterfalls that may be frozen in winter, but for the most part are usually visible (even if only as a black area on the cliffs in April). E.g. Tugela Falls, Didima Falls etc
- Seasonal waterfalls, waterfalls that flow in summer and maybe occasionally out of season
- Periodic waterfalls, waterfalls that only flow after a substantial rain or a wet summer such as the one we have just had (e.g. Bannerman Falls or Rhino Falls)
Thoughts?

Interesting yes, a fresh way of looking at the Berg. Why don't we nurture this thread, define all the waterfalls, photograph them and compile an article that features them?[/quote]alext wrote: Why is more not made of this from an international tourism point of view?

I'd agree with those categories
Ghaz, you got any pics of "Rhino falls"?
Here is a flowing Bannerman from January

This is a correction of my earlier post.
The Injisuthi as it flows over the Red Wall is the highest single-drop waterfall in Africa. It was surveyed by Bill Barnes and Peter Angus-Leppan (two famous names in the Berg) using Lower Injisuthi Cave as the base for the work. The falls are 285m.
The story is written up in 'Giant's Castle - A person history' Bill Barnes 2003.

Anyone got an actual height on Eland River Falls?
Looks pretty high, but I am terrible at estimating heights in the Berg.
