Drakensberg hiking maps

If there are a few errors on the new maps, they are nothing compared to the errors on the old maps. It's when you compare the new maps with the old maps, which I always do, will you see how excellent the new maps really are. Tony Marshall put in months and hundreds of hours into the new maps, purely out of his passion for the Drakensberg, and I, one out of many, are truly thankful and take off my hat to Tony for the enormous effort he put into this work

While the new Slingsby maps are "water-proof", moisture can still damage them...

I usually keep the map in a zip lock of sorts, but was packing in a rush and skipped it on our last hike. Some moisture founds its way onto the paper at the mouth of the sleeve and the ink appears to have rubbed off (the water-proof paper itself is fine).

There is a warning on the maps - don't pack away unless completely dry - although it does leave me wondering what one is supposed to do with a damp map while hiking

And yes, it's not lost on me that I also just posted in favour of carrying paper maps
