Mountain objectives for 2016
ghaznavid wrote: My 2016 Berg goals are:
1) Bag a pass at: Vergelegen; and Lotheni
2) Complete the last few KZN high berg passes I left south of Rhino (4 left)
3) Finish knocking off the non-technical khulus (26 left)
4) Ifidi, Icidi and Pins Pass
5) Sentinel
So 1 and 5 are done, and I am 3 off the third goal. 2 of the 7 passes above (2 and 4 - Pins and Walkers Ridge) have been completed.
I am expecting to finish 3 early next month, but won't get to Ifidi or Icidi this year. I might get South Walkers Pass (the gully from Bushman's Nek side), but probably won't get the last 2 Knuckles Passes this year (anyone keen for a day hike at Bushman's Nek this weekend

Mine:
-Drakensberg Skymarathon (19 March, 40km, pace it well and finish "strong")
-Climb Kompasberg (2502m), a striking free-standing peak in the Karoo
-Do at least 3 multi-day hikes in the Berg (introducing some newbies too)
-Wild Coast Wild Run (1-3 September, 112km, enjoy the experience!)
-Ultra Trail Cape Town (10 December, 100km, finish within the 17h cutoff)
- Hike in Patagonia (Torres del Paine in particular)! Might spill over to Jan 2017![]()

6 passes short of the goal, but seeing as I did new passes at other areas instead, I am going to accept that as good enough. Mohlesi, Ngaqamadolo South, Redi, eNtubeni, Binary and Mponjwane Pass easily make up for the 6 I missed.
Now to set some 2017 goals, but first - 6 to 8 weeks off hiking to recover from the double GT.

Pass, with distinction
I didn't get to hike much because of serious renovations and building but I managed so many trail runs I guess that made up for all the other craziness. 2017 remains as above on the quote

Thlanyako Pass was actually one of the first passes I ever did, back in 2012. Awesome pass!
