Who is doing or has done the Grand Traverse

I have done 5, not 6, GT's.

We really need to be able to access the MBC Grand Traverse Roll, and have it updated fully to be able to do this exercise properly.

I can add:

Linda Feher, who I think has done 4 or 5 GT's (but has done at least 3). She was on 3 GT's with me and Jenny Owen in the 1990's (one of which she didn't complete) and then did at least 2 or 3 more with Jenny after that.
Andre Kleynhans who has done 3 GT's.

I am not 100% sure, but am pretty sure Roger Rood and Mavis Morris have done 3 MBC GT's each, but this will need to be checked (again the MBC records will show this), and that Sabine (Behr) has done 3 GT's. There are also quite a few Jhb Hiking Club members who did MBC GT's between about 2005 and 2011, and I think several of them have done at least 3 GT's, Angelo and his partner (whose name I can't recall), and Sue are likely additional candidates.

Completely agree. Looks like it is quite possible that the number of people with 3 or more is higher than I anticipated.

Looking to do a long trip 14 - 23 April (or up to 1 May) with either fast DGT (3/4 Days), DGT + Lower Traverse (285km with 11000m vert) or just Lower Traverse (5-6 days). My preference is for a fast DGT or DGT + Lower Traverse but Logistics and safety require more people other than my "will" and "stupidity"

When you say "lower traverse", do you mean a small Berg traverse? To the best of my knowledge, this has never been done in its entirety - should be an epic indeed! Good luck with RNNP to Cathedral and Hlathimba to Sani - and some bits of the contour path are also badly overgrown - but sections like the Giants Cup Trail, and Taylors Pass to Battle Cave should be very easy.

Yes I mean a Small berg Traverse :) Contour path all the way except for Injasuthi where I will drop down to camp and go up Van Heyningen's Pass/ Shadi Ridge. I did the contour path on 26 December from Monks Cowl to Centenary hut via the contour path and the section from Ships Prow Pass to Cataract Valley toward Marble Baths nearly ended me so I will rather avoid it and have the camp as backup as it is far from Lotheni to Injasuthi

Jack Davis, Michelle Davis and Andrew Booth ran a 'Lower Traverse' over Christmas last year, Bushman's Nek to Royal Natal. facebook.com/drakensberglowertraverse

Very interesting! You could always twist their arms to do a long detailed writeup with photos on VE

The Injisuthi shortcut makes a lot of sense. I guess roads would be heavily used in the bit to Cathedral Peak. Vergelegen would be a pain, but once you hit the Sani Road - the Giants Cup Trail is easy, and huts with running hot water would be quite nice on a trip like that!

Hi, At the moment some friends just started a DGT, Mixed couple target 5 days or less. For those who like staring at dots on the map, they got a tracker:
