Who is doing or has done the Grand Traverse

After this weekend I have been reminded how much I am not a fan of big river crossings  so I doubt I will shoot for hiking down one of SA's biggest rivers for 200km...

@Sabine: I won't join you guys because my lack of pace when hiking will probably annoy the life out of you, but if I don't end up doing something else over the period you guys do the GT I wouldn't mind helping with the resupply at Langies. Would be pretty awesome to have a first ever VE run GT

Hi peeps,

If anyone is thinking of doing the GT and putting a group together I be very keen to join. I've attempted it once before but my navigation skills and unlucky weather prevented me from completing it.

Cheers,

Hi Rob,

If you read through the thread above you should find info on two GT's in the planning for this year April.
Sabine from this forum and the Mountain Backpackers Club of Durban.

Hi guys, just to confirm that Sabine's GT is on. We've got 6 hikers confirmed and amped for this, however, we may need a little bit of help getting some things to the top of Sani Pass on the 25th/26th of April. We'll be going self-supported until then. Can anyone help?

Are the trip dates still the 18-27 April for y'all?

And so everyone else here knows, Grant informed me that the MBC trip is postponed to 7-20 June (Sentinel to St. Bernard's Lodge).

Hi All,

We are a group of seven doing the GT in April, with five of us on the forum, (elinda, Richard Hunt, Christine, Lorinda and tonymarshall) and Stephan (Christine's husband) and Thora sometimes using the forum for research or to follow our exploits.

We have a resupply organised on Saturday 12 April at the top of Bannerman Pass, where our resupply group will hike up Bannerman Pass and together the groups will tent at the campsite near the top of Bannerman Pass overnight. We also have our second resupply items at Sani Pass already, so are being resupplied for 3 days at Bannerman Pass, to last us to Sani Pass.

It would be nice to have a few more folk for our resupply group which is currently eight people, and we are inviting anyone who would be interested to assist to join in. Some of the group will walk in to Bannerman Hut on Friday 11 April and overnight at the hut before ascending the pass on Saturday morning, and some will do the entire hike on the Saturday from Giant's Castle EKZNW to the top of the pass. The resupply group will return down Langalibalele Pass on Sunday 13 April, after a short summit traverse past Bannerman Cave with the GT group who will continue on southwards.

Anyone interested, please pm me.

Any Grand Traverses planned for the Spring 2014 window?

I have a 3-day hike planned for Mnweni area 25-27 September, but would be keen to be part of a re-supply team in the weeks before or after. I am a noob Berg hiker but reasonably fit and keen to learn by doing.

Edit: don't mean only the weeks immediately before & after 25-27 Sept, actually would be better before 22 Sept or after 5 Oct. Also not limited to Mnweni area...

make a difference. today.
