I presume that 12kg would be your dry pack weight (no water included)?

mmm... just did a check on weights of those items and that list is under 10kg but I have bits and bobs like a Steripen, knife etc that add up. I have gone superlight at just over 10kg before water but am also happy carrying 12kg.

I do like some comforts then. B)

What tent do you have and how much does it really weigh?

Let's start a new thread?
I've been on a massive weight-saving binge the last year or two.
My next purchase will most likely be a -12C quilt that weighs under 700g .
I've bought a new pack (Deuter ACT Lite 60+10, 1.8kg), sleeping pad, hard shell, rain pants, summer sleeping bag to drop weight, as well as packing a LOT fewer clothes.

I've decided not to buy a new tent yet, my Trek 2 is still reasonable at 2.1kg (I'm more concerned about it being front-entrance than 2 side-entrances as opposed to weight).

Btw, I see that Camp Master (www.campmaster.co.za/products.htm?productRangeID=1&category=Dome%20Tents) have released some new tent models. Not sure if anyone has any of these yet. They have a solo tent called the Explorer Dome 100 available at Game for R699.00

and the 2 person tent is the Explorer Dome 200 available at Makro for R499.00

Due South also has a solo tent (can't remember the name) although I think it retails at around R1,100 and seems similar to the CM Explorer 100

my tent is a Black Diamond Skylight which is 2kg but is big enough for 3 (tight sideways but very tall sleepers). I also use a footprint which weighs 360gms.

The weights on the BD site vary as they have made minor changes to the specs and now rate it as 4 season. The current weight is 2.2kg
