Cool, thanks Viking. Next time I'm definitely going to do that route, shorter and less of an altitude drop than going around and back to the head of the pass

Yes, it can easily be done, and affords a good view of the caves near the top of Giants Pass from about where your red line goes through the word Giants.

It is an awesome line. Being shorter, you do drop the altitude much faster though.
So what did you think of Giants Pass? It is a personal favourite of mine (definitely in my top 5).

@TonyMarshall: I was tryng to find those caves, remember you posted a pic or two. Went down Giants pass and then traversed immediately left but after scrambling around for 10 minutes I realised I had gone wrong somewhere, as they couldn't be that far out. Unfortunately by then we had nearly run out of daylight, the wind had picked up and I realised I would have to search for them next time. If we had gone down the Long Wall I would have spotted them. So, now I know where to go I'll find them easily next time
@Ghaz: The wind had really picked up quite a bit during Monday night, so by the time we decended Giants Pass on Tuysday morning it was really pumping. It made going down quite difficult and dangerous, I nearly got blown off the rocks twice, and my wife "froze" a couple of times as well. Without the wind it would have been straight forward although pretty steep, with the wind blowing from behind it was a bit tretcherous.
What I really enjoyed quite a bit was the walk back on Giant's Ridge. By the time we got to about 2500m the wind was positively howling. Trying to walk on the ridge with the wind blowing from the left hand side was quite an experience. It was virtiously impossible walking in the path as the wind was blowing us out of it, sometimes up to 2m's to the side. At one point Kevin was literally crawling on all fours, this was the only way to makeforward movement possible. Wish I could have taken a photo as it was really funny to watch, but I got blown over trying to balance with my two knees and one arm so I had to use all fours to stay upright. Definitely an experience I'll remember for a long time

Exactly, from the slopes of Long Wall heading down towards Giant's Castle Pass the caves become visible, as well as the obvious route to get to them along a grass slope terrace between the cliffs. This is not so obvious if searching for the caves from the pass or even the top of the pass.
