Lower Injisuthi Cave is a nice cave - well sheltered, near water, good view. But linking it to Marble Baths basically means walking half way back along the trail you used to get there.

I was going to suggest the same, combining LIC with your plans to go to MB.

Asking help and advice. I read that there are several overhangs where one can sleep/overnight in the lower reaches. We want to take our kids for a short, 3 day (2 nights) hike - they will probably not do much more than 5km per day. Can you perhaps give me some suggested sleeping spots and distances?
Also, what are the current permit and parking fees at Injisuthi?

You might find some pointers on this thread, which was asking a similar question:

No cost for parking. The conservation fee is R80 p/adult p/day and R40 p/child p/day (3 - 12 years). EKZNW tariffs here .

Night 1 you can maybe overnight at Wondervalley cave, then back the same route through Injisuthi camp (makes for a nice colddrink stop) then up to Grindstone cave for night 2 and back on day 3.
@Swordfish
Injisuthi has a nice campsite with a variety of stands to choose from. From camp there are numerous day hike you can do.
Cheers
