OK, time to get this one off the ground. This year we had an ideal long weekend in March, which we won't have in 2012. The long weekends will be more in April, and those may be better kept for some longer hikes (rather than chopping trees) since the weather is pretty good around then too.
We could set apart a normal weekend in March, with an optional add-on day for those that who can take leave, allowing those that can't to walk out. I'm thinking Cathedral Peak area this time. If we have a big group we could tackle the Thuthumi valley this time since the infestation is significant there. If Mikes Pass is drivable we might be able to get a bakkie ride to The Neck, saving us a lot of time, tackling the pines that day and some of the next. After that those that want to walk out can do so, while the rest can walk up Thuthumi Pass, spend a night on top, and walk out down via The Camel the next day. I think its important to have a good balance between doing something fun and doing hard work on these trips.
If we have a small group, we could head for Tseke or Cockade area and tackle trees spread out over a bigger area, and then go up one of those passes afterwards.
We will not be able to fit in with everyone's schedule, but how well does March work with everyone? Weekend of 10-11?

Awesome news and thanks for getting this off the ground again intrepid!
I would love to join but that time of the year will be pretty busy for me with a couple of big adventure races happening. So count me in as tentative... and I'll try not to get a stress fracture again!

@Diverian
You clearly did not learn your lesson this year that it is no use putting of a Berg trip when the Lions are playing (with) the Sharkies
Sounds good Chris
Obviously a long way to go till then but also lots to organize.

Guys, I'm sorry, I haven't done a great job managing this one. I didn't go ahead for the 10-11 March proposal because it didn't seem to fit in well, so apologies to everyone that was hoping for those dates. I'm not even sure if I'll make it to the Berg in March, so rather than mess everyone around I propose trying this event for a later date in the year. Will post details as soon as I can.

You can always do it in late April, we are short of re-supply team members for the GT Organ Pipes re-supply

Right, new dates have been set: 1-3 June, which is a Friday through to Sunday.
If we are a smallish group we will head for the Tseketseke area and use the hut as a base. For a large group we will probably head for the Thuthumi Valley.
