To hike from Garden Castle and up Walker's Pass to camp on the escarpment, carrying a full pack in one day would be quite an achievement. To find the base of Walker's Pass travelling from that direction would be an even greater achievement.

Due to the nature of some of the remarks on this thread which many have read, it is necessary to emphasise the following:
- Those wanting to obtain advice and information on a forum must be aware that the responses are entirely voluntary from those that are willing to contribute out of their own free time.
- They should also be aware that it is not always possible to ascertain the experience and depth of knowledge of the participants in a particular subject, nor should their information ever be taken as the absolute truth on the matter.
- The more participants comment and contribute in a particular subject, the closer you can get to the true picture. Forums should be seen as knowledge bases which grow and refine themselves over time, and to which corrections and improvements can be made.
- Those contributing and giving advice on a forum must bear in mind that is is equally not always possible to ascertain the experience and knowledge of those asking a question, nor what they are capable of. Care must be given to present your advice in an accurate and helpful manner, qualifying it where possible with personal experience.
- Nobody knows everything, and everybody makes mistakes. Particularly when it comes to the Berg.
- It is healthy and constructive to disagree on a topic and to present your views in a manner which is respectful and constructive. This is necessary for growth and helps everyone improve in their own knowledge. This is encouraged on our forum.
- Personal attacks, criticisms, and aggressive tones are not helpful or necessary. They will definitely not be tolerated on this site.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

Khulu is Zulu for "Big". They are summits above 3000m in South Africa, there are a few other rules that define them. There are about 187 of them.

Kgologo is Sotho for "Big" - same story, but in Lesotho, using either 3400m or 3300m.

I think that Ghaz meant to say that Kgolo is the Sotho word for big.
