Booking of caves
Reason for asking is the last time I took 22 people up to the Amphi and there was an unexpected entrance fee to go into the park. It wasn't much but anything times 22 is a bit of a financial problem I have to sort out...
So my question:
1) What is the rate per person in the berg per day?
2) Is there a cost to enter Monks Cowl?
3) Is there a rate to leave your car at Monks Cowl?
4) Are there any other hidden costs for Monks Cowl?
5) What is the camping rate there?
6) Maybe contact details for Monks Cowl office?
Thanks

I have a few of the maps but I don't see many of the caves listed.

I'll give them a call later today to book a few places.
We usually camp at the Sterkfontein dam (very nice and close to Jhb for the first night) or Bergville (also nice). But I think I will try Monks Cowl camping spot this time, then we can get an early start the next morning.

is there somewhere in JHB that we can rent tents? I have a small tent master, that if the weather is good should be okay, but if it rains, wind blows (even slightly) I don't think it will handle it. I once thought I was going to freeze to death sleeping in it in Cradock
we are going to look at going up the chain ladder from the sentinel parking lot. is it safe to leave your car there or should we use the shuttle from the hotel?
regards,
Si

It's visible from Tugela falls and is about a 30 min walk from there.

With the exception of Injisuthi, caves are normally reserved by contacting the relevant KZN Wildlife office of the area you are going to. They take down your details and dates, and that's it. For Injisuthi, contact KZN Wildlife Central Reservations on 033 - 845-1000 and be prepared to pay upfront. You can also book caves for Injisuthi online:
bookings.kznwildlife.com/MakeABooking.aspx
Caves in the Mnweni cannot be booked.
Please let us know about any changes to the above details and help us all stay up to date.
Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

Is there a specific thread that I should use to obtain information on whether or not there are caves which, for safety reasons, should rather be avoided when hiking in the Cathedral Peak area?
