“I’m planning to take three short naps of about 20 to 30 minutes each,” says Ryan. “I'll drink the Red Bull just before my nap and then pass out for 20-minutes – I’ll be so knackered that I’ll just crash – and then will be good to go after that as it kicks in.”

Mafadi in 15h56! The lead is up to 35km now. I wonder - is sub-40 hours actually a possibility?
The GPS track is for 207km, 90km in 16 hours, at that average pace that would be 37 hours. 2 hours for sleep would give them 39 hours - but I imagine they will slow down a lot at the end.
Perhaps it would be fun to place bets on the final time. Closest result gets 2c rounded off to the nearest increment of 5c?

I'm going with 41h27...

Amazing bit of strategy on their side to do the long haul from Giants to Thabana Ntlenyana at night so they can keep running in the dark
The rules have now been changed forever, well done guys

That's crazy - the stretch we covered in the first 2 days of GT in 2012 is what they have left. And those were some of the hardest days of the GT! I don't know if its possible to understand how fit these guys must be!

They are on the No Man's ridge right now, almost at the top of Mzimkhulu Pass.
Roughly 38km to go, 25 hours left to break the record. Come on - finish strong!
