Thanks Papa Dragon :)

My other project is going slowly (I have to keep asking my mother-in-law for help with the sewing), but looking like it might work, yay!

Anyone made a bivvy bag before?

Hi Viking

Didn't I use it at Mzimkhulwana hut?

@ruthtbl
Very cool, what sort of weight/packing size does it come to?

The material on its own is 110 gsm, but I haven't weighed the final product with all the sewing/tie-outs/seam sealing and guy-lines added on. Then the weight of the hiking pole and pegs also need to be factored in. I'm hoping to do a bunch of testing, including weighing and measuring, before I use it for real. I'm considering taking this with to the Fish River Canyon, although I know that pitching on sand might make things difficult...

My thinking is that the groundsheet and hiking pole would already be in my pack. wondering if this could be a backup emergency bivvy alternative.

I don't usually hike with a pole, so for me it would be extra weight, but I think even taking that into account it will still end up being lighter than taking an actual tent. I was aiming for 1kg max for everything, and hopefully I managed to get close to that :)

I think that this could definitely work instead of a bivy bag. That is basically what I am wanting to use it for. I haven't had any problems with condensation with the tarp tent, and that is the major thing that puts me off bivys. I still need to test the rain protection though :)

Fleece 384g, this puffy 288.
Definitely warmer and more windproof, breathability should be fine but i'll test it soon.

Has hand warmer pockets, no zip on thee pockets..
