Yes, as that is a concern for you, I would suggest getting (ordering) a spare set when you buy the tent, as the spares are still available. As I recall, the Woodmead and Fourways OW branches still had stock of Cool Mountain II tents, as well as some of the Pretoria branches in Gauteng.

Hi Dirk,
Yes, please pm me the details, so that I can sort things out in advance with you, such as email address to easily communicate and find out where your preffered OW for receiving the spares would be, and to advise you the price, confirm you still want the items etc.

Hi all
After the first hiking trip in many years, in the Monk's Cowl area, this past weekend, where we had planned to overnight in Zulu Cave but due to circumstance ended up tenting at the campsite at Blind Man's Corner, I realised 2 things:
1) I definitely need to go hiking more regularly

2) I need to upgrade my tent.
So I read through a lot of this post, and a few pages ago decided that the Cool Mountain II was the way to go. Phoned Outdoor Warehouse in Durban, and of course they told me that the Cool Mountain is discontinued, as I read a few pages later. Believe the 360 Degree from Sportsman's Warehouse are also discontinued though PMB branch does have stock.
So the options are www.firstascent.co.za/shop/eclipse-tent/ Eclipse www.firstascent.co.za/shop/traverse-ii-plus-tent/ Traverse or
www.firstascent.co.za/shop/lunar-tent/ Lunar
www.firstascent.co.za/shop/starlight-2-tent/ Starlight from First Ascent.
www.capeunionmart.co.za/k-way-nerolite-3-person-tent K-Way Nerolite 2 or 3
or 1 of the 360 Degree discontinued that are still in stock.
I assume that the Hi-Tec 2 or 3 man is not really a contender www.hi-tecdirect.co.za/products/accessories/tents/base-camp-2-man
Planned use of the tent for 2 people plus kit, only little Berg at this stage, but who knows later on, and mainly though not only as a back up if caves can't be reached/ are booked/full.
Appreciate any thoughts
Thanks in advance

“Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So… get on your way!”
I'd go for the FA Traverse 2 plus out of that list, would probably stand up to the harsher elements better once you take it up top. It's review on the FA website by Gavin R seems quite positive and he spends a lot of time up top.
The FA Eclipse isn't too bad either, a bit bigger so roomy for two, got a mate who has one, although it must be said it hasn't been tested in trying conditions yet.

Here is the review from the FA website
Gavin Raubenheimer - 30 July 2013
When I first got this tent I thought I would only use it on very easy hiking trips and next to the car. However it has become a regular feature on my guided trips. It is certainly a 3 season tent only, but that still means it can do well in most situations. The big advantage is its lightness and yet it is still very roomy. I have even taken it on high Berg hikes at 3200m in winter. However I did pitch it in sheltered areas, out of really high winds.
I purchased one last year, haven't had a chance to use it though since I injured my leg. I had actually bought one of the Cool Mountain II tents , but after I brought it home and set it up I decided I didn't like the layout, side entrances and the general quality and took it back and swapped it for a Traverse 2 plus which is more like the old Ferrino tent it is replacing. Will hopefully get to try it out in the next few months.
