Tents

Any feedback for this one, pretty light @ 2.12 kg, and looks reasonbly wind resistant.
Papa Dragon, I have no experience with that specific tent, but from the photo's it looks like it is not free-standing (you have to peg it out to get it to stand upright). I looked at a similar design of tent about a year ago and found that it was very low and small inside, almost like a bivy. Again though, I haven't seen that particular tent in the flesh, so it might be fine

I se sportmans warehouse is offering their 2 man Mountain lite tent at R1400 (weighs 1.8 kilos) Which they say is for extremem hiking. Whilst CUM are offering Nerolite at a similar price but weighing in at 2.4 kilos.
(assuming similar price which one would forum recommend for berg and general hiking? (remember it is not the Mountain Moon 2 offered by outdoor Warehouse. Also how well insulated are they ? I have always had mixed feelings re the Treklite 3 as the floor is flimsy and some water issues now and then
Thanks
Ivan

. . . looking at the BD HiLight or BD I-Tent? Anyone know these and also are there BD tent stockists in SA? Needing a 4 season 1-2 person tent.
kalahari.com used to have BD tents on line but I see they're not listed anymore, probably something to do with their merger with takealot.com.
MountainMailOrder have some BD & Bibler tents, and I know that drifters do some BD tents as well.
There is a lot of discussion about cost-effective tents suitable for Berg conditions on this thread.

But not to worry, the borrower enthusiastically assured me, as he had managed to get rid of said odour by washing my tent in Clean Green!!!!!
I am still shaking my head.
I guess the next step is a garden-hose waterproofing test in the back yard.

So I lent my berg tent to someone for a camping weekend and when I got it back I was informed that it had unfortunately taken on a bit of a camp fire odour.
But not to worry, the borrower enthusiastically assured me, as he had managed to get rid of said odour by washing my tent in Clean Green!!!!!
Grrrrr... I had the same thing happen with my pack, not as serious but still, BIG lesson learned: give VERY specific instructions about not washing/taking 'special' care of stuff loaned out
