Tents

My specific conundrum is to get a lightweight solution for a family of 4 (dad, mum, a 3 year old and a 5 year old).
The only real option I found was products by Tarptent in their 3 man and up range - but they are US based and will cost an arm and a leg (which I need to hike).
Do anyone have any recommendations towards a family solution for a sleeping arrangement?
I'd get two 2-person tents myself.

Hi Andrewandrew r wrote: Papa Dragon
Next time your tent is up, could you add a longer view so we can see where you have placed these new attachment points please?
How many pegs do you use now?
Will do, but the attacment points are not new, they are the loops for the toggles used to keep the fly sheet doors open.
Maximum of 16 pegs, 4 on the groundsheet and pole webbing, 6 on the flysheet (4 on the corners and 2 on the vestibule doors), and maximum 6 on the flysheet.
My daughter's boyfriend bought his at ODW a few weeks before mine, mine had no instructions with it, but he seems to remember that his said to use it this way round...andrew r wrote: Also, does anyone have an opinion on which way up to use the groundsheet with reflective material on one side? I've always put the reflective side down to keep the cold out, but see from the pictures above that Papa D seems to use it to keep the warm in...

I agree with Viking about 2 tents, but would also suggest a 3-person + 2-person so that you have more options.

Re the tent guys I have experienced some insane wind and in one instance I didn't have all the guy rope I needed. My tent is pretty strong and held on but in the spot where the guy rope wasn't attached it resulted in a weakness the other guy point on that front side got torn off. This made me realise that it's important to ensure that the support structure is balanced in high winds.

I have found this to be effective.
