:sick: omg. Is that an actual route? It looks like death to me :sick:

That is the actual route - I haven't done it myself, but I would most certainly take along some climbing gear if I did that route!

@Chris

I hear your point l&c. I need to do it again and see how it feels as opposed looking at the images, which as I know, can sometimes be a little deceiving.

Haha! It really is not that insane - only dodgy when wet or iced up. In dry weather, it would be a breeze. And as for the climbing gear, I reckon that would be an overkill and you'd struggle to find any placements.

Here's a cropping from the hi-res version of the pic I previously posted. In this pic it's actually pretty clear that there is a path leading to and from that snowed up gully that I indicated with the red dotted line on the other pic. That path/gully will take you up and over to bypass the dodgy section. Note the other group of hikers in the bottom right for scale.

We did the hike this past weekend and the camel is not nearly as bad as hyped up to be, with a little rain on the way up. We spent the night in rolands cave, a little sketchy traversing rock to get to cave. A rope would be nice, as there are two pegs, for peace of mind incase the rock is wet or iced, a fall from this ledge would most probably be fatal.

I am not entirely sure that the "probably" was necessary :laugh:

Falling is strictly prohibited when one traverses that ledge - still probably the scariest thing I have ever done in my life.

Hi

Looks awesome. How long did the route take you? Did you do it in one go...?

Two days up, due to bad weather and a cramping fellow hiker, when reached end of contour path/start of camel. One day down, 5.5hrs from cave to hotel.

I think that is a lovely hike. But I would love to combine it with the Bell Traverse coming down.
