Cathedral Peak hikes - 3 days
If I'm not mistaken this is the peak known as Camel which is 2410mRiaang wrote: Can somebody please tell me why the route is called the Camel? Some of the guys in our group pointed out a section they said looks like a camel but it looked more like a tortouis to me (ok, I am very much left brain orientated which puts me at a serious disadvantage here). Picture perhaps would help.
BTW Riaan, we need some of your pics now just to prove you were there

Re the Camel: it looks like the hump on the back of a camel - trying to find an angle that actually shows this. Seeing as Didima rates 3rd on my most hiked list, it is odd I don't have a good photo of this...

So, what they said is that, from above it looking down the red circle is the Camels head , the green circle it's hump as it is lying down. From the point where I took this photo it looks more like a tortoise to me. Is this the wrong interpretation of the "hump"?

My experience was that I found the exit easier. Could be because I was leading with my right foot (I am right handed) and that the dropoff is visually not so bad as you look towards Organ Pipes pass's top section.
How do you copy the words somebody else said? i.e. if you want to paste it into your thread?

and from Tseketseke Pass.
Riaan, that tricky section on the Camel route isn't too bad when it's dry, but don't underestimate it after some rain or when it's got a covering of snow or ice (and the wind is pumping).
I'm not great on the forum functions, but you use the quote button to post a reply copying the words from someone else's post. After that you can delete bits you don't want out etc, but I struggle a bit to add my comments to the post quoted without including them in the quote box.

You can use [quote'] at the start and [/quote'] at the end (the ' between the square brackets is to stop it from actually making that a quote). If you want to make it quote a person, use quote="whoever" and it will add the "whoever said" part.
You can also just click quote on the bottom of their post and delete the stuff you don't want - as Tony mentioned. Just remember to put your reply outside the quote part, otherwise it will be inside the quote box.
If you want to quote 2 people, just click quote on one, cut the quoted contents of the box, click cancel, click quote on the other and paste it in the box.
Quotes can be fun:
Lewis Carol wrote: Fury said to a mouse
That he met in the house
"Let us both go to law:
I will prosecute you.
Come, I'll take no denial;
We must have a trial:
For really this morning
I've nothing to do."
Said the mouse to the cur,
"Such a trial, dear Sir,
With no jury or judge,
would be wasting our breath."
"I'll be judge, I'll be jury,"
Said cunning old Fury:
"I'll try the whole cause,
and condemn you to death."

I am looking to do a one night hike in the northern or central Berg. I am fit and very keen on getting to a cave with a hell'ova view. Any suggestions would be appreciated, especially with an idea of a route to take.
Thanks for the help
