VE Berg trip

We obviously have some very active people on this forum!
Thats too bad MK9, join us on the next one.
So we are down to 8, which is fine, we'll still have fun and should still clear at least the upper Mhlwazini, all the way down to Zulu Cave, where we could possibly spend the second night. I will arrange that the Monks Cowl office gate stays open till about 9 on Friday night so that we can get in to camp. We will probably only be there towards 9.

So we are now down to about 5, but I don't think this need be an issue. The point is not how many trees we manage to cut down, but rather that we enjoy ourselves, and lay the foundation for nurturing an ongoing care and interest in the Berg. For those that can't join us, there should be a next time.

We will head out on Saturday to the Gatberg campsite. From there we will head up the Mhlwazini Valley along the river bed. We will come across about 8 fairly large pines not long after. We'll fine-comb the river bed, where there are another 2 pines at least near KBC. Where we camp for the night is flexible and we can also hide our packs somewhere and loop back. On the way down the trail away from KBC we will clean up litter. Sunday morning - climb Gatberg! I have booked Zulu Cave for Sunday night, so we have the option of staying there, but are not obligated to. In any case, on Sunday we will follow the Mhlwazini down towards the cave and see how far we can get. Monday is the walk out. ClimbyKel and I will hopefully be climbing Amphlett and/or Turret along the way.

Anyone that still wants to join us last minute is free to do so.

Yep thats them! Compare with the pictures on post #1895 of this thread. Interesting the one up on the slopes! A picture of the two near KBC is also on that earlier post.

If anyone knows of any additional pines tucked away near KBC please let us know, it will save us time looking for them.
