Another round of snow is expected this week across the Drakensberg escarpment starting tonight, with another fall expected on Thursday evening. At this stage only a few centimetres is expected and it would be limited to mainly regions above 3000m:

@ASL
Doesn't look like it except for a slight chance of very light snow on the Southern Berg peaks on Sunday.
It will be turning very cold (but dry) over the Drakensberg from this evening though as the large cold front arrives. (-8°C forecast for the Southern Berg peaks)

@JonWells
We are planning a trip to Tugela Falls this weekend, we see there is a chance of snowfall on Google weather.
Can we expect some snow?
Regards
Ryan

Hi Ryan
I normally wait till 3 days before a snow event before I mention it in this thread as longer than that the forecasts can be quite unreliable. But i can tell you that as it stands, the models are predicting over 60cm of snow for the Tugela falls area on the escarpment mainly from Sat afternoon and throughout Sunday. This forecast amount could change quite a bit as we get closer to the weekend, but for now it certainly looks interesting!

@ASL see the post above.
Models have actually just updated and the amt forecast for Chain ladders has halved to 30cm, mainly falling on Sunday.

Here is the latest snow accumulation forecast for the coming weekend. The forecast totals have moderated somewhat, although 30+ cm is still possible in places.
