Hi @JonWells
Is the snow in Ceres this morning a good sign for snow on the drakensberg this weekend?

Hi Ryan
At the moment the forecast is still on track for most of the escarpment to get some snow on Saturday, but it seems it would be very light, only a few cm.

Here is yesterday morning's satellite image showing the extent of the weekend snowfall in red. South of Giants Castle received snow as low as 2000m, although this was very light and would have melted rapidly:

Snowy weekend coming? Are there any likely areas in the berg that will get proper snow?

Looks like the whole range will get a decent covering.
Who's heading where this long weekend?
I'll be trying to get up Corner Pass...

Smurfatefrog, will see you there. Also attempting corner pass this coming weekend, might just keep Judges in the back pocket incase corner is cloged with snow. Are you coming down Leslies? According to yr.no Injasuti/Mafadi will get a nice white layer, fingers crossed.

Here is the latest snow accumulation forecast from snowforecast.com, showing the total possible snowfalls over the next 2 days.
Freezing levels over the Drakensberg will not fall particularly low during this event, ranging from 2600m to 3700m. This means that parts of the escarpment may receive some rain at times. The highest peaks should receive only snow where up to 30cm is possible:

Below is Saturday's satellite image, showing the remaining snow in light blue. Note how the snow from Sani Pass to Bushman's Nek fell much lower than what the models had predicted, with some light snow even reaching Underberg:
