Going up to do the chain ladders with some mates. When I phoned Witsieshoek they said the road was bad and I should use their transport, when I spoke to the Guy (forget his name) at the car park he said its fine and my Avanza will be fine. Has anyone got a third opinion? What's the condition of this road at the moment?
Thanks in advance

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

Drove up there in December. There are about 3 patches which are a bit rough. You may want the passengers to get out the car at these places which helps slightly, and they can also direct you around rocks and small trenches.

Yip, the road was fine! A few rough patches as suggested but not a problem. Had a great walk, up Beacon Buttress Gully (which comes with awesome views at the top - if you haven't gone that way before go have a look) to the falls and down the ladders. The Berg really is an awesome place!

Dead on! Glad you had a good trip. Last time we went up the gully was Jan this year & it was a little river coming down, but AWESOME indeed!
Have anyone seen the Chicken Licken ad about the urangutan on the guy's back? That's exactly how the berg is to me

Haha, that's a good way to put it! The problem is that the orangutan is starting to grow quicker and quicker!

Nice one! The problem is none of the guys I hike with seem to have the orangutan on their back... Although I guess I have been on the escarpment 3 times this year with plans to summit Mlambonja Peak at Garden Castle in June, so I can't really complain.

Hi all, I'm going to be spending Sat night at Witsieshoek and a little hike up to the chain ladders with my daughter (and maybe to the top...no presssure) on Sunday. Anyone going to be in the area?
My wife has to use our Caddy, which means I'm left with my car which has a lowish spoiler (Not really a Ferrari), haven't been up there for a while, if I drive slowly, is the road okay?
