In November. Neil got the grey paint and decided at short notice that he would go with one of his employees and paint the hut that weekend. There wasn't enough time to get word out or get a group together.

The hut looks great!! I am so keen to go and check it out for my first time soon, and if there are any maintenance projects in the pipeline, I'd defs like to be involved. Good job to those who have put in the time and money, so cool that a part of Berg history is being restored. B)

The following pics were taken by Neil from SA Climbing Academy on the trip when the hut got its grey coat. The pics also appear in VE's official report to EKZNW, written up by Tony and available in the Downloads for those interested.

This is a really good milestone to have reached, thanks to all that have worked towards it! Its also good to see interest in the hut pick up, and remember to vote in the poll attached to this thread. If we can demonstrate sufficient interest and use of the hut, we may well have it around for a long time. Its not certain whether it can survive another 1 in 50 year blood such as occurred a few years ago where it stands currently, and a very long-term, future hope we have is that the structure could be moved to a safer spot in the same area.

Shorter-term possibilities include the installation of some wooden structures inside the hut for beds or benches but this is not certain right now. If you would like to be involved in future trips to work on the hut, please send a PM to tonymarshall. We tend to combine these trips with some pine work in the area.

I have some thoughts on sanitation issues around the hut, with increased use, and will share these at a later point. So go use the hut guys and it enjoy it, its in a really superb location! It is booked the same ways that caves are.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

Hi All

I am trying to find out how to go about booking the Tseketseke Hut for the 25 of September.
I did call Didima and Ezemvelo but they both think I am crazy.

who/what would be my best bet?

Thanks

You can't book Tseke Hut. It is only usable due to the efforts of some of VE's members, so don't forget to thank their hard efforts (I can say this because I sadly haven't helped out at all).
