Well this event is still 3 days away so the forecast may change, but for the time being the models are suggesting that we may have a fairly significant snowfall on Friday with up to 20cm expected in some areas:

Lets hold thumbs!

Hi Jon, Is there a website that you get this forecast from? Or is it a paid subscription story?

Hi Jared

There are a number of free sites showing this kind of info, the image above comes from Windy.com, with the new snow layer chosen, and using the ECMWF model.

The date slider can be dragged to show snow accumulation for different days:

Sitting in my tent while it’s collapsing from snow. Just above mweni. The whole area is covered in snow. I am the lucky bugger holding the snow side up while the relentless wind and snow hammer us since 10pm.

will post a pic in the morning

Wowser, there is now a substantial increase in the amount of snow forecast for Friday with around 30cm forecast for much of the Berg, and snow possibly extending quite far into the midlands.

Van Reenen's Pass will almost certainly be closed if this stays on track as over 40cm is currently expected there!

Fantastic to be able to see this from my office desk, knowing you guys have just shared this almost live to us. Really appreciate it and it's making us all jealous..But excited to soon also be able to hike again in whatever the Berg gives us. Opportunities like this is tough but rare and one can only enjoy it - But be careful and safe. take one extra step to all bound within the confines of 4 walls.. :)
