Looks like the snowreport forecast backed off... they saying the snow may only reatch Eastern Cape this weekend. Damn, I was hopeful!

They could be wrong but let's in a day or 2

Indeed, there is indication that snow will fall over Wednesday with freezing levels possibly dropping as low as 2100m in places.

Unfortunately it seems like snowfall will be very light for most of the Berg, around 1cm.  The far Northern Berg escarpment might get a bit more with 4cm predicted.

The heaviest falls are expected on the Eastern Cape mountains where 16cm is possible.

Some snow fell in Lesotho e.g. this photo on 21 May near Letseng Mine.

The Meteosat visible imagery from 22 May seems to be showing the distribution of snow in central Lesotho as well. I will upload that once I can be clear that the 'snow' isn't stationary low, reflective cloud.

Most of the snow fell on a SW-NE diagonal across central Lesotho - pretty much as forecast. Not much snow, if any, fell on the escarpment.

Ah, Tiska has beaten me to it today, but yes very little snow on the escarpment as was expected.

Snow does look a lot better towards the Eastern Cape berg, as the forecast had suggested:

Well this event is still 3-4 days away, so the forecast may still change, but for several days now multiple weather models have been indicating a chance of heavy snowfall on Monday and Tuesday next week.

For the time being most of the escarpment is forecast to receive around 20-40cm of snow.  And there is also a chance of the snow falling into the midlands.

The epicentre of this event seems to  be the Eastern Cape where some extreme snow depths are looking possible, up to 80cm being indicated in places!
