Models seem to be fairly confidently predicting snow over most of the escarpment over today and early tomorrow. Most places will have pretty light snow (2-4cm) with the heaviest being in the Northern parts of the escarpment with 6-8cm possible.
Freezing levels will be fairly high so this will mainly affect regions above 2500m:

Looks like a decent dumping of snow in the south (which weren't predicted to have much) from videos I've seen earlier today. Wish the clouds would move away so we can see what is happening at Cathedral Peak area. Letsing (spelling?) has reported a bit of snow as well. Northern Lesotho has the best forecast.

Ok, so we went to Cathedral Peak area this weekend and the snow was epic!
Will upload as soon as I've transferred all the pics from my phone and have a minute, but boy did we have fun in the snow. Went up Mlambonja pass on Friday, hit the snow at around 2700m ASL. It was a real slip and slidy event the last bit to Twins cave. We left Joburg late and there was a lot of fog all the way down to the Berg, so we started quite late in the morning. Arrived at the cave at around sunset and as the temps started to drop, things got icy. Snow and ice on steep grassy banks forced us into the scree section, which turned out to be much more easy to move over. The next day we took out the micro spikes and ice axes and the going was sooooooooo much easier. We all decided that we're never doing another snow hike without micro spikes. So much secure underfoot, so much less effort required for movement. No more slipping and sliding. Much safer.
Saturday we had fun in the snow and evenually parked off at Easter cave. The wind blew strong the entire night, and the next day. If you want to test out your cold weather gear, do overnight in Easter cave on a snow hike! Sunday morning the wind nearly blew us off the top of Mlambonja pass. We all had to crawl down the footpath at the top. I've only once had stronger winds in the berg. It was insane. Quite dangerous actually. Again, havving the micro spikes made such a difference. If you slipped with the wind blowing that strong, the chances of being blown off the mountain was pretty high.
Will do a short write-up and post pics later in a seperate thread.

Models are currently indicating a chance of light snow across the escarpment over Wednesday this week. For the time being around 2-4cm is forecast for most of the escarpment, with 7cm in parts of the South, particularly around Sani Pass.
Freezing levels will not be particularly low, around 3700m dropping to 2900m at the lowest, which means it could be touch and go and may be a mixture of mainly rain at times.
