Finally got to do Sterkhorn again today, day hike. The weather was perfect early in the morning, crystal clear.
By the time I got to the long stretch between Breakfast Stream and Blind Man's Corner, a few clouds had started building up in front of the peaks, mainly Sterkhorn and Cathkin. Walked into mist about half way up, and was in pretty thick mist the whole way, with just small breaks now and again. Lifted at about the same place on the way down.
The cross is up and standing, and all in order. I was just sorry that the mist obscured the awesome view, but I thoroughly enjoyed the solo hike.
I'll post some pics when I'm not too lazy to get pics from my phone to my PC, which I am now

Couple of pics from the walk up Sterkhorn:
It was clear in the morning
The pic doesn,t show it very well, but there is quite a drop=off on each side of this ridge
Amphlett's from Sterkhorn slopes

The mist coming in..
The saddle that gives a view toward Dragon's Back and Keith Bush Camp, view obscured unfortunately
Cross is secure
The 1947 cross still fine, just some of the plating coming off.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.
I have straightened them for you, but just a note to everyone in future, the rotation issue that some (including myself sometimes) are experiencing, are not an issue with the site. Rather its a Windows issue that started with Windows 8, and happens elsewhere too. Please read through the link below to read more:
www.eightforums.com/general-support/48307-need-windows-8-1-stop-auto-rotating-my-photos.html
To correct it once its on the site already, you need to edit your own post, uncheck the attachments, delete the tags in the message text, and upload the corrected images again. To correct the images you will need to open the images in a photo editing/viewing app, change the rotation and save it, and if necessary repeat this.
We are always happy to help people on the forum, but this is a Windows issue, and should thus be corrected by the poster themselves.

Morning
Does anyone have any recent info on the state of the cross on Sterkhorn?
I believe it may be damaged.
I am going up on Sunday to take a look, but forewarned is forearmed,
Cheers
