I'll be going up sometime to sort out the cross.

This is with the approval of EKZNW, and the Conservation manager of the area will be along..
Probably a day hike on a Sunday.. maybe a Saturday

Nothing too major Macc, the stakes, turnbuckles and lower parts of the cables are missing,
I'll be getting those this evening. Once those are attached and the cross standing, I would
like to build a fairly sizable cairn at the base.

Viking I'm thinking maybe the 20 or 21st August,
Sunday is usually better for me but Saturday is
better for Mark..

I found this Video on Youtube and I must say, Sterkhorn looks amazing when above the clouds . I'm looking forward to join the team that will be climbing this on the 8th of October

Thanks so much for this thread. I found your pictures of the false paths really helpful. Here is a string of videos we made of our hike up Sterkhorn two weeks ago - if anyone is interested in seeing the route.

If anyone goes up Sterkhorn in the near future, please take some detailed pics of the damage to the cross, if any, and perhaps of the base as well.

I'm booked into the area in the middle of next month, so I'll hike up then - weather permitting - and take a few pics of the cross if it isn't sorted by then.

I've never been to the top of the Berg in September. :-)
