Drakensberg Cable Car

This is what I was most concerned about. Extending the cable car to Mont-aux-Sources would inevitably lead to the Afriski to Mont-aux-Sources 4x4 "track" being upgraded and would completely change the character of the escarpment area around the Tugela Falls. Think tour busses parking at a huge parking area within an easy stroll from the "highest waterfall in the world". What's next? Restaurants, ski-slopes, a permanent abseiling outfit right next to the falls??? FFS!

Not quite so bad will be to be left with the rusting derelict tribute to a ?corrupt politician's ego.
Hopefully sanity will prevail. The economy cannot withstand these repeated unnecessary, woeful loss-making extravaganzas.

Expect a large lookout platform by the Bilanjil lookout spot - or even right by the falls.

But actually the falls are quite far from Mont Aux Sources, so perhaps they won't get drawn into it just yet - or maybe they think the top of the falls is Mont Aux Sources.

I'm actually keen to do a good long exploration hike of this area before any development happens, just in case they do go ahead - seeing as we now seem to know what their real intentions are.

Was just going to say - best we all get as much done in those areas as possible, because I certainly won't go back if there is a cable car.

"The extra 5km will link the cable route directly to the Afriski resort near Buthe-Buthe in Lesotho."

It is not 5 km from the proposed Cableway top to Afriski. More like 20 km.

We may have covered this before, but what is EKZNW's position in all this?
