The upcoming hikes thread

Thank you so much for the info! Will then be doing the Karee trail 13km then, My plan was the end of the month, but turns out I got the long weekend off so maybe this weekend then, either Saturday or Sunday. You are more than welcome to join if you can.Let me know.
Regards
Bruere
Karee is an awesome trail, with loaded packs will be good training. The gully going up to the top is steep and in summer rather overgrown. Don't forget to visit bat cave half way up the gully. Also boer war trenches to see and broken down lookout point before the second trench up a nice little hill. I have done this trail twice. In autumn was easy, mid summer it was a killer.

Anyone else heading up to Giants Castle this coming weekend? Me and my wife hiking there this weekend. Safe and enjoyable hiking everyone.
Cheers Anton

Feels like I have done no hiking at all this year, barely been to the mountains in the last two months. Only done 585km of hiking this year - a long way to go to hit my goal of 1000km (sounds ridiculous, but I was already on 194km on 5 January, so not much has happened since then).

I definitely enjoy the scenery and fresh air on my hikes (and take tons of photos) - you don't have to be fast to do 50km in a day, you just have to have the stamina to keep going. With a heavy pack I am more tired and enjoy the scenery far less than with a light pack. I also get to see awesome sights like sunrises and the mountains by full moon light when doing early starts and late finishes
It's funny - fast and light is like hiking in trail shoes, seems like a bad idea till you try it.
