Hi spiderkzn,

The first option looks like the type that takes the threaded (screw on and off) cannister, whereas the second option looks like the puncture type, ie: keep it on till the gas is finished.

Hi,

I agree with Viking.

This is the one I bought recently, and works like a treat:
My Stove

Screw on type, boils 800ml water in 4 minutes when I tested

Hi Silverthorne

Is it the JetBoil look-a-like Fire Maple stove?
If so, where did you buy it? Was it much cheaper than the JetBoil equivalent?

Howzit!

Here's the one I bought. Free postage, only bad thing is the wait :silly:

This stove is awsome, and boils a litre of water in a snap. Just be carefull not to over tighten the canister as I might have damaged the threads doing so. That reminds me i need to get it checked out! Shot bro!

*EDIT*

You might want to purchase the clip on canister feet, No worries over tipping over

So it seems the brand Kovea will no longer be available on our local market. Except if it gets a new distributor soon.

that surprises me as Kovea offer a useful range of well designed/made lightweight products that are reasonably priced and seem to be available in Cape Union Mart & Outdoor Warehouse stores around the country.

It's great product and I was as surprised as you, but it is the reality. I suspect that some of the larger retailers that you've mentioned may decide to bulk ship their own stock. If they don't then shelves will run empty by Christmas.

Silverthorne, is that the normal 230g gas canister or those small expensive canisters the JetBoils use?

Does the gas canister, stove and all the other accessories fit inside the pot?

Gerrit, looks like the bigger 230g canister in the pic.

these 'legs' improve stability a lot but be warned: there does not seem to be a standard size for these canisters even though they are 100g or 230g (i.e. not all 230g canisters are exactly the same diameter, although they are similar), so the legs/feet you buy need to match the brand of cylinder that you use.
