Storms of Summer 2012

I have the most awesome lightning photo from my front veranda in 2004, I also have some good ones from 2008 (all validly taken with long exposure)...

TonyMarshal can back me up on this one, I actually said to him, "I am going to take a photo with that distant cumulonimbus cloud for the VE photo competition" shortly before taking that photo. And FYI I had many photos with clouds (and many more) :

It being a fairly casual competition, I'm ok with some bending of rules provided there is consensus. As long as we are having fun and producing some good quality images, then thats great. If we ever do anything more consequential and where tangible prizes are involved then the rules will have to be clearly defined and adhered to.Stijn wrote: I don't want to nit pick, but Karl's photo entry was taken back in 2008. Granted, he's all the way in Australia, but should we not open up the competition to all photos that fit the theme, regardless of when they were taken? This way we would have more than 4 valid entries and Ghaz wouldn't have to trawl through the 3000 photos he took on his recent Tlanyaku hike to find one with a cloud in it!
We don't always have to limit the rounds to a certain time-frame either. Open to suggestions for how future rounds should work.
Now lets get on with it before Ghaz uploads all 3000 pics to this thread!

I only took 1000 photos, not 3000, on that Ndumeni Dome hike (which everyone seems to call my Thlanyako Hike - I define hikes by peaks, not passes )
3000 is my GT goal...

How about rock formations for the next round? Or just "Rock(ing) in the Berg" to keep it slightly broader?
