I could says Cathedral Peak is a rock formation. (it's rock and it has a form):-P
So formations is pretty broad unless it is defined better.
or leave the definition open ...

Expanding on Brio's comment, the escarpment is a formation of rocks, thus this topic really does not eliminate anything other than animals and plants...
While any entry would really be allowed, we all know what is meant by "rock formations", so I don't think further clarification is required...

@Plouw: After all, Popple does have a fairly rocky summit...

Fussy photo, lots of ISO noise. Nice nevertheless.
From Chalet at Didima.
This one came in like a freight train and nearly lifted some roofs. To me the storms in this area is especially fearsome (was caught in such a monster some years ago near Cleft peak, it was my last summer escarpment hike.....I take snow and winter gales anyday over this up there....).

So whats happening with the next Berg photo competition, I have too many entries which are perfect for the Rock Formations topics, a tough call between the Organ Pipes (the photos name of "This Looks Like Thuthumi Pass to Me" only makes sence to those of us who were on the hike), Mashai Fangs, Sandleni Pinacle, Tseke View (of the Pyramid and the Column) and Hlubi Hike (of the Thumb from Thumb Spur Peak on Saturday)... Descision, descisions...

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

OK lets make it Rock Formations. But lets make it smaller, more tangible formations, rather than peaks? We can have a special one for peaks too sometime.
