After an extremely uneventful snow season this year, it is encouraging to see a fairly good possibility of some widespread snow over much of the Drakensberg on Thursday.
If the current forecast holds true we can expect falls of up to 30cm on some of the peaks, as well as a chance of lighter snow possibly falling below 1600m in places:
Possible snow accumulation totals from Ventusky.com:

Hi All, anyone keen for a hike this weekend?
A friend and I want to go there over the weekend (driving from Johannesburg) looking for the rare white gold (not toilet paper).
We thought Bannerman - Langlies loop would be easy...? If the snow is to bad we can just sleep in Bannerman at the bottom of the pass.

I'm tempted to hit the mountains, but the concept of finally getting a chance to sleep in this weekend is seeming to outweigh the joys of what would be a great opportunity to test my -16c sleeping bag.

Yes we are. Currently our plans are a bit in the air. But we are planning to leave Johannesburg Friday evening, sleep at the picnic/parking spot (or just a kilometer from there where the security won't bother us). Then try to hike up Bannerman on Saturday and down again on Sunday. I don't know how the route looks so I don't know what to expect. We are taking tents if we reach the summit Saturday, otherwise we will retreat to the hut and sleep there.
Unfortunately our car has filled up with people, I don't know where you are coming from...? But you are welcome to join us. We are quite relaxed, as long as you are prepared to start Saturday morning early.

Perhaps we'll see you guys there - my wife and I are doing a 2-day loop via Langies & Jareteng Passes, in search of snow this weekend. Decided to go this morning, so all very last-minute

Took a slightly longer route into Hilton this morning to check out conditions - I wasn't expecting to see snow on Nhlosane as well. Looks like a proper snow fall. Hopefully it will hang around for a while like the last one earlier this year did, slow release water is always important and great for sustaining rivers through winter.

@Gerrit - What time are you guys starting Saturday?
Could I possibly join you and your wife Stjin? I haven't done a Jareteng pass before, would be a great experience for me!
Depending on what time either one of you start, I have to decide if I'm leaving tonight or early tomorrow morning.
